Susan Creasy CLU, B.P.H.E., B. Ed.

Chartered Life Underwriter

Susan embraced the life insurance and investment business as it provided her with an opportunity to educate and help individuals develop financial goals, estate plans, and independence. From the early days, Susan wanted to be a self-employed entrepreneur in control of her destiny and to have the ability to give back to others. Much of Sue’s success can be attributed to her entrepreneurial spirit, creativity, openness to new ideas, and excellent relationship-building skills. Clients choose to do business with Sue primarily because of the level of trust she develops with them, and that trust is reflected in the two or three generations of families in her client base.

A graduate of Queen’s University, Susan Creasy joined the life insurance industry in 1980. Today she owns Susan Creasy Financial Inc., a financial planning firm located in Kingston, Ontario. Throughout her career, Susan has been held in high regard by her peers in the industry. In 1997, she was the first Canadian to be recognized by the Life & Health Insurance Foundation for Education for her outstanding professionalism and concern for her clients’ financial security. She has been a member of the industry’s Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT) and is now a Qualifying and Life Member, and since 2005 she has been named to the MDRT’s “Top of the Table,” a milestone achieved by only 4% of its membership worldwide. Sue has also completed a term as Chair of the Board of Directors of the MDRT Canadian Charitable Foundation, an organization funded with generous financial gifts from insurance professionals.

Throughout Sue’s career, she has been actively involved in the Kingston community as a philanthropist, fundraiser, public speaker, writer and volunteer at the board and organizational levels. In 2001, Susan received the Outstanding Service Award from the Limestone District School Board. Susan is also a recipient of the Jim Bennett Achievement Award from Queen’s University in 2013 which recognized her outstanding volunteer work in education and healthcare.

In 2014, Susan was awarded the Outstanding Volunteer Fundraiser Nomination from the South Eastern Ontario Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals.

In 2018, Sue was one of two recipients of the J.G. Taylor Award for demonstrating excellence among her peers; for her impact on the profession and the public she serves; and for exemplifying the Institute's code of professional conduct. Most recently, Sue was the Chair of the Extraordinary People, Innovative Health Care UHKF campaign which raised $65 million between 2014 and 2018. The campaign was for new equipment (MRI) at Providence Care and renovations to Kingston General Hospital (KGH) and Hotel Dieu sties. In 2019, Susan sits as the Chair of the UHKF Phase II campaign for Redevelopment at Kingston Health Science centre with a goal of $90 million or more to build a new tower at the KGH site. In July 2020, Susan was awarded Kingston’s First Capital Distinguished Citizen Award.

An active member of the Cataraqui Golf and Country Club, Sue and her husband Tim, make their home near Kingston, Ontario. Susan's two children Rebecca and Jack have established themselves as university educated and sociably responsible. Sue is also a proud grandmother to, Rebecca and Aaron’s two little boys.
